Tim Harden

Timothy Murray Harden, 78, of Indianapolis, passed away on January 26, 2025, after a long battle with cancer.
Born on May 19, 1946, to Marjorie and Dr. Murray Harden, Tim grew up in West Lafayette and often visited Washington, D.C., to spend time with his grandmother, U.S. Congresswoman Cecil Harden. He graduated from West Lafayette High School and Purdue University, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.

Tim served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War from 1969-1970. After returning from the war, he earned his law degree from Indiana University and married Cheryl (McCuaig) in July 1973. Tim worked for the Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C., before joining the law firm Krieg DeVault in 1979, where he spent his career as a securities attorney and partner.

An avid runner and competitor, Tim completed numerous triathlons, marathons, and Indianapolis 500 Mini-Marathons. Tim was also a passionate sports and car enthusiast and loved spending time at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and attending Purdue football games—especially meaningful as all of his children became Boilermakers.

In retirement, Tim treasured time with Cheryl, their three children and six grandchildren. He remained active, enjoying long bike rides across Indiana and traveling abroad with family and friends. Tim loved the beach and could often be found soaking up the sun in his aviator sunglasses, lately at their second home in Engelwood, Florida.

Tim is survived by his wife of 51 years, Cheryl; daughter Alison and her husband, Stuart Siciliano, and their daughters, Annie, Betsy and Maggie (Washington, D.C.); son Christopher and his wife, Kemrie, and their sons, Ashton, Jasper and Murray (Indianapolis); and daughter Betsy and her husband, Jerrod Niedermyer (Austin, TX). He is also survived by his brother, Tom Harden; Tom’s wife, Suzanne; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Judy, and her husband, Bob Poor
