Roger Alan Haniford, 81, of Winamac, IN passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at Hickory Creek in Winamac. He was born on December 26, 1943 in Lafayette, IN to the late George Wesley and Frances Roberta [Wallace] Haniford. As a child, he had a deeply cherished relationship with his grandparents, Paul and Charlotte Wallace. Roger graduated from West Lafayette High School and earned both a Bachelor's and Master's Degree from Purdue University. He made lifelong friends while at Purdue and was a proud member of Beta Theta Pi.
Roger was a beloved educator and coach with a career that spanned 37 years. His first year teaching locally was at Star City High School in 1967. He moved to Winamac High School the following year due to consolidation and retired from there in 2004. Roger taught Drivers Education as well as Health and Physical Education. He coached various high school teams, including the first ever Warrior football team and boys golf. Roger was instrumental in bringing a girls softball summer league to Winamac.
In 1990, Roger married the love of his life, Connie Hile, at the Winamac First United Methodist Church. They enjoyed supporting their grandchildren, attending family gatherings, and going on fishing trips. They also enjoyed going to the casino. Connie passed away on July 5, 2016.
Roger was a true outdoorsman with a passion for hunting and shooting. He loved his dogs (too many to mention!). He had a great sense of humor with no filter. Most of all, Roger loved his family and will be dearly missed.

At Roger's request, cremation will take place at Frain Crematory in Winamac and no services will be held.
