Phyllis (Compton) Geiger

 



Phyllis Geiger, 98, of West Lafayette, passed away on January 12, 2025, at Westminster Village. She was born November 30, 1926, in Lafayette to LeRoy and Maude Compton. Phyllis graduated from West Lafayette High School. She married Robert Geiger on September 30,1945. They were married for 56 years. They lived on Logan Avenue, where she developed friendships many of her neighbors, especially Marti VanCourt and family.

Phyllis worked as a graduate secretary in the Chemical Engineering Department at Purdue University. She enjoyed bowling, boating and skiing on Lake Freeman, and wintering in Kissimmee, Florida. After moving to Westminster Village, Phyllis ran the mail room and was active in card groups. She developed very close friendships, especially with her fiancé Dale Henderson and his family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert; fiancé Dale; and her brothers LeRoy Compton Jr. and James Compton; and sister Barbara Brown; as well as daughter-in-law Barbara Geiger; grandson David Geiger; and great-grandson Tyler Geiger.

Phyllis is survived by her children, John Geiger (Barbara) of Monticello, Julie Budzik (John) of Lafayette, Jan O'Bryan (Jerry) of Westpoint, and Mary DeVault (Dan) of Bloomfield; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on February 7th, with service to follow at 11:00 am at Soller-Baker Funeral Home, Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd, Lafayette
