Evan Griffith Bookwalter, 66, of Darlington, died Friday, June 30, 2006, at home.
Born April 12, 1940, in Logansport, he was the son of the late Harold Leroy and Kathryn Louise (Griffith) Bookwalter. He was formerly married to Holle Rauch Bookwalter, who survives in Centralia, Ill.
Bookwalter lived in Peru until age 12 and was then raised and educated in West Lafayette, where he graduated from West Lafayette High School in 1958. He moved to the Lebanon area in 1973 and had resided in Darlington since 1998. He was employed as a building product manager at Quality Aluminum Company in Indianapolis, Indiana where they supplied wholesale building supplies. He retired in 1996.
He enjoyed his family, gardening and fishing.
Memberships include the Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include daughter Tamara C. "Tammy" Martin of Centralia; brothers Roger Bookwalter of Lafayette, Dale Bookwalter of Orr, Minn., and Robert Bookwalter of Peru; sisters Joni Spicer and Janet Bookwalter, both of Peru; step-mother Frances Bookwalter of Peru; grandchildren Toby B. Large and wife Heather of Chicago; Tabitha C. Large of Indianapolis; and Tara M. Large of Bushnell, Fla.; great-granddaughter of Hannah I. Large of Chicago.
A memorial visitation is 2 to 4 p.m. Monday at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. No services are planned. The body will be cremated.
Memorials may be made to the donor's choice of charities.
