Roselyn Montgomery Baker 82, Carmel, IN passed away July 28,
2009, at her home. She was born July 25, 1927, to David and Eathel
Montgomery in Owensville, Indiana. Brother, Willoughby Montgomery and
sister, Evadine Bryan preceded her in death. Roselyn graduated from West
Lafayette High School in 1945 and after graduating from Purdue
University in 1949, she was employed as a research librarian at Park
Davis Pharmaceutical Company in Detroit, MI and then as Serials
Librarian at Iowa State University. On September 2, 1950, she married
Robert S. Baker, her husband of over 58 years. She was active in the
local P.E.O. chapter AF and state level of P.E.O. International serving
as State President in 1975. She was active at Meridian Street United
Methodist Church in the women's organization and served on the
Administrative Board and Board of Trustees. Roselyn and Bob were Florida
residents for 15 years before having returned to Indiana in 2008. In
Florida, she was active in the Barefoot Beach Chapter of the DAR,
P.E.O., and was a volunteer at North Naples Hospital. She was active in
the outdoors and enjoyed birding. She was on a Florida State Permit for
sea turtle nest monitoring, monitored eagles nests for Florida Audubon,
and was a member of North Naples United Methodist Church. Roselyn was a
prolific knitter, having knit lap robes for veteran hospitals, caps and
booties for newborns in hospitals in Naples and Wishard Memorial
Hospital, as well as, many sweaters. Roselyn is survived by her husband
Bob and two sons, Donald David (Ann) of Carmel, IN; Laurence James
(Mary) of Sparta, NJ; five grandchildren, Lindsey, Chelsea, Rachel,
Daniel, and David Baker; and two nieces, Elaine Burns and Juanita Ruff.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 1, 2009, at Meridian Street
United Methodist Church. Visitation will be 4-7:00 p.m. Friday, July
31, 2009, at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center Carmel, 325 East Carmel
Drive, and also Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the
church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to
