Lafayette - William "Eric" Peacock, age 50, died August 1, 2018 from injuries suffered in an automobile incident.
Eric was born January 25, 1968 to Freida and Frederick Peacock. Eric had a happy childhood in West Lafayette surrounded by his maternal grandmother, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Eric graduated from West Lafayette High School in 1986. Eric attended college at Indiana University and was admitted and graduated from Herron School of Art and Design in 1999.
Eric lived in many places making friends in Texas, California, Illinois, and Missouri. He spent many years of his adult life living in Springfield, MO taking care of his mother and three nephews. While in Springfield, Eric helped in local soup kitchens and played music in many churches and open mike venues.
Due to health problems, Eric returned to Lafayette in 2015. He volunteered at the First Baptist Church Bread Give Away most Friday mornings. Eric made many friends in the Lafayette music scene playing at open mike sessions in local bars.
Eric was a wonderful caregiver, musician, and artist, and was a loyal, gentle soul. He will be missed by many. Eric loved: Dr. Who, The Grateful Dead, pecan pie, and coffee.
Eric is survived by his father, Fritz (Brenda Taulman), brothers, Alexander and Samuel, sister, Kim Prall, and nephews: Joel, Joshua, and Elijah.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Freida, and brother, Aaron.
There will be a memorial service at First Baptist Church, 411 North 7th Street, Lafayette, IN, August 12, 2018 at 1 p.m. Eric's art work will be on display, and dress is casual.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church to be given in support of Lafayette Urban Ministry and Tippecanoe County United Food Pantry. Envelopes will be available at the church.
