David Pounders

David Joseph Pounders Passionate Artist Dedicated to his Family, following a tragic accident, and a week of heroic efforts by the staff of the San Jose Medical Center, David Pounders passed away peacefully in his wife's arms in the wee morning hours of September 8, 2004. David's mother and five siblings came from all over the world to bring their love to his bedside. He was 48.

Born in Buffalo, New York to mother Rosa Lea and father Al, each accomplished artists in a period of bohemian ethos; David was destined to pursue a life and career centered on all things creative. A talented artist in his own right, David contributed to many computer animation and design ventures founded in California's Silicon Valley. Not content to limit his imagination to a single field, David was also a gifted musician, delighting the ear of all who heard him play congas, percussion and drum set. He loved playing with a jazz 'garage band' and dedicated his talents faithfully in music ministries at Good Samaritan United Methodist Church and most recently a weekly services at the Los Gatos Methodist Church.

Balancing his commitment to art and music, David was the quintessential family man, dedicated, inspired and buoyed by the love of his wife Robin, son Chris, and step-daughters Hayley and Kelyn. His big heart and devotion extended to many church ministries, including building homes for the needy.

In addition to immediate family, David is survived by his parents as well as his sisters Susan (San Diego, California) and Mary Beth (Bologna, Italy), and brothers Steve (St. Louis, Missouri), Anthony (Sacramento, California) and Tom (Denver, Colorado).

His passing leaves a hole that will not soon be filled and a pain that will not soon be healed, but his life will remain an inspiration to all those he touched.

Memorial Services are scheduled for Sunday, September 19, 2004 at 4 p.m. at the Los Gatos United Methodist Church.
