Zella I. Cwalina, 62

Zella Irene Cwalina, 62, of Lafayette, died Friday, March 5, 2010, at her residence.

Born Nov. 27, 1947, in Lafayette, she was the daughter of the late Gustav E. and Zella Evans Cwalina. She lived most of her life in Lafayette and previously resided in Minneapolis and New York City.

She was a 1965 West Lafayette High School graduate, attended Purdue University, and graduated from the University of Minnesota. She also graduated from the School of Culinary Arts in New York City.

She worked as a sous chef at various restaurants in the Lafayette area. She enjoyed writing, cooking and canning, growing and selling flowers, and caring for her dog.

Surviving are her sister, Margo Stell of Stevensville, Mont.; and her companion, Steve Griswald of Lafayette.

Also surviving are 3 nephews, Brandon Stell of Paris, France, Brian Stell of North Carolina and Bradley Stell of Brooklyn, N.Y.

Memorial Service 2 p.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010, at Grace United Methodist Church. A memorial gathering will begin one hour prior to the service. Pastor Norm Nellis officiating. Zella attended the last reunion in 2005.  She will be missed.
