Nate Carter Miller

 Nathaneal "Nate" Carter Miller, 46, Monticello, passed away Dec. 14, 2020.

He was born Dec. 29, 1973, in Lafayette, to Stan and Jimi (Carter) Miller.
Nate attended Monticello United Methodist Church.

He was a graduate of West Lafayette High School, Vincennes University with an associate degree in law enforcement and Indiana Law Enforcement Academy class 98 - 134.

Nate was a proud community servant. He started his law enforcement career as Walton town marshall and then served as a Monticello Police Department reserve officer, Flora Police Department, Carroll County Sheriff's Department in the Jail Division, security manager of Vanguard National, Monticello Police Department, where he served as patrolman, lieutenant, assistant chief, crime scene technician, and was certified as a Glock armorer before retiring after 20 years of service.

He most recently worked for the Delphi Police Department.

Nate loved history and enjoyed World War II and Civil War re-enactments. He liked hunting ducks on the family pond and fishing with his girls. He enjoyed spending time traveling with his wife for whom he bought flowers every week, and could appreciate a fine cigar. He loved entertaining people with his jokes and funny costumes.

He had many special friends and knew no stranger. Nate ran mini-marathons and participated in many Tough Mudder events.

In addition to his parents, Nate leaves behind (Soliday) Miller; children Madisyn, Elise, Celia, Karsyn Cocanower and Kaylee Creighton; siblings Aaron (Erin) Miller, Thad (Kayla) Miller; niece McKynah Miller; his brothers in blue and good friends Dave, Tony, Brian and Bob.

Visitation will be noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, 2020, at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. A mask is required for all in attendance.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests and encourages memorials to the American Lung Association, 115 W. Washington St., Ste. 1180-South, Indianapolis, IN 46204 or White County FOP Lodge 123 to benefit Shop with a Cop, P.O. Box 356, Monticello, IN 47960. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.
