Margo (Waples) Meyers passed away peacefully on Feb. 7 after a long illness. She was born on April 13, 1944, to Robert and Evelyn (Summers) Waples. Margo was the youngest of their three children and their only daughter. She spent her early years living in Remington, Ind before her family moved to West Lafayette. She graduated from West Lafayette High School in 1962, where she was a cheerleader for the Red Devils. Margo was a regular at class reunions and enjoyed keeping in touch with her former classmates from Remington, Klondike and West Lafayette. She worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Payless Grocery Store and at Cracker Barrel, but she spent most of her years as a homemaker caring for her family. Margo loved spending time in Florida and enjoyed wintering in Bradenton. She was an avid knitter and enjoyed crafting, painting and watching Purdue basketball. She is survived by the love of her life – Gilbert Meyers, to whom she was married for nearly 42 years. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two daughters Wendy (Scott) Summerfield and Tricia (Ron) Schuessler, stepdaughter Becky Meyers, stepsons Rick Meyers and Randy (Dana) Meyers. Grandchildren, Trisha, Jessica, Samantha, Jake, Jordan, Ashley, Keegan, Logan, Casey, Kylie and Kenzie - plus several great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Max Waples and Jerry Waples. Friends may call from 11 AM (EST) until the time of Funeral Service 1 PM (EST) Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston. Private interment will be held at a later date. Her family would like to thank Guardian Angel Hospice and Integrity Care of Lafayette for their care. Memorial contributions may be made in Margo’s name to the American Cancer Society or Dementia Society of America.
