Beavercreek, OH – Marjorie Loretta Poore, age 78, of Beavercreek passed away on Friday, August 12, 2022 after suffering a stroke as well as late stages of Alzheimer’s. She was being cared for by Village at the Greene Nursing Home in Beavercreek, OH.  She was born March 12, 1944 in Lafayette, IN to the late Stephen and Loretta Tyrrell. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Charles Patrick Poore; they were married at Purdue University on July 22, 1967. Together, they raised two sons, Stephen (Lora) Poore of Brownsburg, IN and David (Angela) Poore of Troy, OH. She was a loving grandmother to four grandchildren, Shelby and Dylan Poore and Amber and Allison Poore. Margie is also survived by her brother Michael Tyrrell of Lafayette, IN, sister Marlene (Ben Pierce) Tyrrell of Georgetown, TX, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Margo Keller.

In 1968, Margie received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Library Science from Purdue University after graduating from West Lafayette High School in 1962. She worked as a public Librarian for the Beavercreek, OH Library as well as the Fairborn, OH Library. She later worked at Miami Jacobs College in Dayton, OH as the school’s librarian.  Earlier in her career, she taught college classes at Midwestern State University, Wichita Falls, TX, and The College of Charleston, Charleston, SC. She was an avid reader and wrote poetry in her spare time. Margie was active in the Catholic Church and regularly attended bible studies and taught children’s Sunday School. As a supportive spouse of an U.S. Air Force military pilot of 27 years, her devotion and loyalty were the rock that held the family together during eleven moves from coast to coast and numerous deployment separations, some lasting over a year.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, August 21, 2022 from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm at Flanner Buchanan Funeral Home located at 10722 E. Washington St. Indianapolis, IN  46229. After visitation, there will be a Mass of Christian Burial followed by an onsite burial.  We will return to the Flanner Buchanan Atrium for a luncheon.

In Margie’s memory, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the charity of your choice.
