Jennifer McEachern, the daughter of our classmate Mary Ellen Curtin, has supplied the photos and bio of her mother.
Mary Ellen married Joel Mixon of Hammond Indiana in September 1966. They lived in Chicago for several years and had two children, Joel Christopher Mixon and Jennifer Leslie Mixon (now McEachern). After that they moved to St. Petersburg Beach FL to live closer to her parents who had both retired from Purdue.
Mary Ellen went on to become a banker, retiring as a Vice President. She was well known and respected in the business community throughout St. Petersburg and Tampa as her role during her banking years was to open new bank branches and develop new business accounts.
She married Warren Wasmer in 1995. After retirement, she became restless and went back to school for skin care. She opened her own salon “MEM’s” in South Pasadena, Florida.
In January 2016, Mary Ellen and Warren moved to South Carolina to be with her daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. Warren passed in January 2017, and after spending several years of some very special time with her family and grandchildren, Mary Ellen passed in July 2018.
She is survived by her son Dr. J. Christopher Mixon of Newtown CT, daughter Jennifer McEachern of Chesnee SC, her son-in-law Eric McEachern, and four grandchildren, Madeline, Carter, Pierce, and David.
