John Henry Yost, 87, of Lafayette died Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born July 9, 1931 in
Clark’s Hill to the late Carl and Lucille (Slipher) Yost. He was a
graduate of West Lafayette High School. On October 24, 1957, he married
the love of his life, Linda Mae Fulks. Linda preceded him in death on
September 1, 2009. John worked at the West Lafayette Water Company for
47 years until retiring in 1986 as the Superintendent. He was a United
States Army Veteran having served from 1952-1954 during the Korean War,
and was stationed in Germany.
John loved English Bulldogs and
Cars. He would attend car auctions and car shows and loved rebuilding
engines. He also enjoyed walking and old country music.
He is survived by a son, Randall
(Maxine) Yost; 3 daughters, Jackie (Troy) Eadie, Jennifer Vandergraff,
and Brandi (Brandon) Bass; 8 grandchildren, Aaron, Sam, and Nicole Yost,
Devon and Hayley Eadie, Joe and Natalie Vandergraff, and Alissa Howe;
and a sister, Patricia Garrett.
Along with his wife, Linda and his
parents Carl and Lucille, he was preceded in death by his brothers,
Carl Jr., Markwood, Barry, and Thomas Yost; and 2 sisters, Ruth O’Neill
and Jerralynn Collins.
Memorial contributions in John’s name may be given to the Alzheimers Associaion at www.alz.org or to Riley Children’s Hospital at www.rileychildrens.org . Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Visitation will be from 9:00 am
until time of service at 10:30 am, Sunday, October 14, 2018 at
Soller-Baker Funeral Home, Lafayette, 400 Twyckenham Blvd, Lafayette.
Interment will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, 1718 W. 350 North, West Lafayette, IN 47906.
