Jay William Lang, 85, of Carmel, IN, formerly West Lafayette, IN passed away July 8, 2014. Jay was born February 16th, 1929 in Indianapolis, Indiana to William and Emily (Biegler) Lang. He moved to West Lafayette in 1931 and graduated from WLHS in 1947. He received a BS in business from IU in 1951. He served with the US Coast Guard during the Korean War in the Pacific and was discharged in 1952 with a rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade . He moved to Indianapolis in 1954 and married Eleanor G. McKnight from Bedford in 1956. He graduated from I Medical School in 1961. After practicing general medicine in Hamilton, IN, he completed an anesthesia residency at Marion County General Hospital and practiced anesthesia at Community Hospital East until his retirement in 1988.Family and nature were his greatest pleasures.Surviving are: wife, Eleanor (McKnight); brother George (Susan) of Roswell, GA; daughters; Catherine Bain (Dave) of Carmel, IN and Susan Dernlan (Gary) of Wellington, FL; son William Lang (Jill) Rockwall, TX; and six grandchildren. Jay was preceded in death by son, Curtis Alan and brother, William Edward Lang of West Lafayette, IN.
