Mike was an avid Cubs fan, a collector of many things who loved fishing, camping and spending his free time riding his Harley with his fellow "hogs". He served on the board for Dayspring Homeless Shelter for a few years and also was a former Big Brother.

Mike fought a lengthy battle with cancer which lasted 18 months. The family can't thank the doctors and staff of Community Hospital North and Community Oncology enough for their unwavering determination and care. Most notably Dr. Sumeet Bhatia , Dr. Daniel Weed and Megan Weaver, NP., who not only watched over him but who also forged an incredible bond with the family as well. In his final months at home Sherri of Community Hospice was a ray of sunshine. Her humor, support and compassion was a blessing to us all. And a special thank you to Chaplain Rob Mifflin who gave Mike and the family strength when we needed it most. The family is also very appreciative of his many friends who supported us all through his final journey, and who kept him smiling till the very end. We will forever be grateful.

Those fortunate enough to know Mike either professionally or personally can attest to his fun loving and kind spirit, his incredible work ethic, his great sense of humor and his generosity. He had an infectious smile and the most beautiful blue eyes which immediately drew people in. He never knew a stranger and always went above and beyond to help anyone in need. A devoted father, son, brother, uncle and friend. He was loved and will be missed by so many.
