Joanne O. "Jodi" Osmun Pickart, 68, of Bringhurst, died Sun.-Dec. 14, 2014 at 3:15pm at her residence. She had battled lung cancer for the past 2 1/2 years. She was born Mar. 29, 1946 in New York City, NY, to the late John & Dorothy Morley Osmun. Her marriage was to William V. "Bill" Pickart in West Lafayette, on June 10, 1967, and he survives. She was a 1963 graduate of West Lafayette High School, she received her BS in speech & hearing from Purdue University in 1967, and received her Master's degree in learning disabilities from Purdue in 1985. She worked as a speech therapist in both the Twin Lakes and Carroll Consolidated School Corporations. She taught special education from 1985 at Carroll Consolidated Jr.-Sr. High School, until her retirement in 2009. She and her husband enjoyed traveling, especially their trips to Sanibel Island, FL. She enjoyed flower gardening, and working outside around their home. She loved teaching, and loved her many students she had over the years. One of her greatest compliments as a teacher was stated by a former student that said "Mrs. Pickart was a God send". She dearly loved her husband, daughter & son in law, and her special grandson Charlie. They were her life. Surviving: husband-William V. "Bill" Pickart of Bringhurst; daughter-Karen & Dan Balsbaugh of Carroll County; her grandson-Charlie V. Balsbaugh. Preceded in death by a daughter Jill Suzanne Pickart. Services: Friends may call Wednesday from 3-7pm at Baker-Abbott Funeral Home, Flora. Private family interment at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Flora. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Carroll Education Foundation or the Friends of Adams Mill, envelopes available at the funeral home. www.baker-abbottfh.com ----
