James Clinton "Jim" Shenberger, 73, of Kentland,
died at 8:40 a.m. Monday, April 19, 2010 at George Ade Memorial Health Care
Center in Brook.
He was born on July 25, 1936 in Lafayette to the late Lester and Christina Middleton Shenberger. He was a 1955 graduate of West Lafayette High School and attended Purdue University.
Mr. Shenberger served in the United States Army for 2 years, being honorably discharged in 1958 and was in the Reserves until 1962.
His marriage was to Nancy Ann Whaley on December 12, 1959 in Kentland. She survives.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, served as the Fairlawn Cemetery President for 14 years, Holiday Ramblers of Fort Quiatenon member for 12 years, a charter member of South Newton Young Farmers, and a current member of American Legion Post #23 in Kentland.
Mr. Shenberger was a farmer in the Kentland area for many years.
Surviving with his wife are his daughters, Cheryl Hancock (husband: Gary) and Diane Vissering (husband: Jeff) both of Brook; a brother, Robert Shenberger (wife: Joan) of Indianapolis; and a sister, Ruthanne Holder (husband: William) of Dayton, Ohio.
Jim loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, Ryan, Kelsey, Megan, Kurtis, and Nathan.
Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. (CST) Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home in Kentland and also 1 hour prior to the 11 a.m. (CST) funeral service Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at the new Trinity United Methodist Church, 305 East Princeton Parkway 1500 South, Kentland. Interment to follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, Kentland.
Memorials may be made in memory of Jim to the Trinity United Methodist Church or donor's choice.
