Glenn Schoenhals, 38, dancer and massage therapist
Glenn F. Schoenhals, a Village resident since 1989 and a massage
therapist for the past 10 years, died Sat., Oct. 2, (note: 2004) at New York
University Medical Center of complications from AIDS. He was 38.
Trained as a dancer, he performed for a
while with a dance company that toured Italy before coming to New York
City where he worked and eventually became manager of the Forty Four
Restaurant in the Royalton Hotel.
He then became adept at deep structural
integration massage and developed a practice treating clients who needed
pain management because of body deformation, deterioration or injury.
Born on April 17, 1966, in Lafayette, Ind.,
to Robert and Betty Schoenhals, he was a champion swimmer as a
youngster and won several Indiana State Championships before he was 13. A
passion for the performing arts led him to high school at Interlocken
Arts Academy in Michigan. After graduation he majored in dance at North
Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem where he earned a
bachelor’s degree in 1988.
His partner, Scott Baker, of the Village,
and his parents, of West Lafayette, Ind., survive. A sister, Karen
Schoenhals, of Boca Raton, Fla., also survives.
Greenwich Village Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. (Note: from 2004)
