Donald E. Becker
Donald
E. Becker, 89, of West Lafayette, passed away at 2:30 p.m. Thursday,
May 9, 2013 at Cumberland Pointe. Born March 9, 1924 in Indianapolis,
IN, he was the son of the late Karl and Marybelle (Eddington) Becker. He
graduated from West Lafayette High School. Donald honorably served in
the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946.He married Mary Katherine Kashner in 1951 and she preceded him in death in 1978. He then married Betty Joe Becker and she preceded him in death in 1997. Donald worked for National Homes Corporation for 29 years and Indiana Veterans Home for 22 years in maintenance.
Surviving are his two daughters, Susan Becker (partner/companion, Susan Ziegler) of Avon Lake, OH, and Donna Rietschlin (husband, John) of Ottawa, Ontario; seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and his dearest friend Shirley Stanton. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter Anna Rietschlin.
Memorial service will be held today at 8:30 a.m. at the Cumberland Pointe Chapel with Spiritual Counselor Dwight Herin officiating. Hippensteel Funeral Home entrusted with care. Share memories and condolences online at
