MARY McKENNA COOK, Indianapolis, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2003 at Indianapolis University Hospital. She was born in January 26, 1943, the daughter of William Ferris and Mabel (Madigan) McKenna. Mary was a graduate of West Lafayette High School, class of 1960, where she was the recipient of several academic honors and awards.
She received her bachelor of arts degree with honors from St. Mary-of-the-Woods College and her master of arts degree from Indiana University, where she continued graduate studies. Mary taught at Morton School in West Lafayette, the East Patchogue School on Long Island, and Washington Township Schools, where she was Coordinator of Special Education, until she retired in 1988. Mary
loved reading knitting, entertaining, walking the beach, and spending time with her beloved corgis.
She married James Moody Cook in April 14, 1988. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sister, Rebecca McKenna Peyton; brother John Michael McKenna; brother-in-law Larry Peyton; sister-in-law, Josann Moser McKenna; nephew Brian Matthew McKenna; niece Katie McKenna Daniels; great niece Madeline McKenna Daniels; uncle Francis Donald McKenna; along with
many caring cousin and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 2 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, Indianapolis. Friends may call at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center- Broad Ripple, from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 1.
