Steve Morris

Steve Morris was an accomplished biologist in the sense that he could catch frogs, snakes, skunks, insects, planaria etc. better than any of us. I became an entomologist which Steve was happy to hear. The WL high school insect collection was very competitive and there was considerable trading of specimens. We had been frustrated finding Thrips (their own Order Thysanoptera) due to their minuscule size.
Steve glued a tiny sliver of balsa wood on an insect mounting point and traded it for several much rarer insects. A damned fine piece of Entomology.

  1. Steve taught me how to play one of my first songs on the piano - "The Baby Elephant Walk".

I can remember playing billiard ball bombardment in his basement

  2. I remember Steve fondly from our days in band. He could hear a tune and nearly immediately play it excellently on the piano having picked up by ear an incredible, accurate version of the song. George
