Mike Oesterle

Michael Oesterle  class of 1966

Mike Oesterle died in December 1968 after a very short struggle with cancer.  Following graduation from WLHS, Mike matriculated at Purdue where he was pursuing a pre-medical curriculum.  He was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and in a close relationship with a young student from New York, Linda Woycek. In the fall of 1968 Mike was found to have developed a rare cancer, choriocarcinoma, which had extensively spread to his lungs and other areas of his body at the time of diagnosis.  He died on December 26^th, just before his 20^th birthday.
