Julie
Oesterle died August 16th, 2001, in Santa Clara, California after a
13-year struggle with breast cancer. She was 51 years of age. Julie
earned a bachelor’s degree in Social Studies from Purdue, where she was a
member of Kappa Alpha Theta and Mortar Board. She received a Masters
degree in Photography from Ohio University and a Masters degree in Anthropology
from Purdue. Julie had a brief marriage in the late 70’s that left her
with one child, Briana, born in 1979.
After living in Bloomington, Indiana and Lafayette, she moved to Palo
Alto, California in 1992 to be near her brother, Steve, and to receive
extensive medical therapy at the Stanford Medical Center. She endured multiple surgeries that
challenged her emotional and physical strength; but she never gave in and never
complained. She worked in Palo Alto
doing web design as a freelance artist. She was a very skilled photographer. Some of
