ROBERT HURON OBITUARY

Robert Lawrence Huron, 63, Indianapolis, died December 11, 2003. Robert's career was in retail shoe sales, serving as the general manager for 14 years at Wohl Shoe Co., in St. Louis, MO. He was the owner and general manager of Michael's in Rockford, IL. Robert was a sales associate in women's shoes for Jacobson's in Jackson, MI and the Famous Barr (May Co.) in Springfield, IL. Mr. Huron served as the sales manager in the children's shoes department at Jacobson's in Indianapolis. Robert also served as a sales associate in the children's department at Saks Fifth Avenue, Indianapolis. While Robert served his tenure as general manager for Wohl Shoe Company, he received "The Retail Man of the Year" award in 1976 and again in 1977. While at Famous Barr, he was "Top Salesman of the Year" in 1986 and again in 1987. Robert was a graduate of West Lafayette (IN) High School, and upon graduation went on to Purdue University. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Leukemia Society, 941 E. 86th St., Indianapolis, IN 46240. Survivors include children; Jeffrey Huron of Los Angeles, CA, Michael Huron of Rockford, IL, Amy and Christina Huron of Lovespark, IL; brother William (Marylou) Huron, of Lutsen, MN; sisters Norma Huron Lipsett of Ft. Wayne, IN, Ann (Jack) Huron Brake of Indianapolis, IN, Constance Huron Scott of Riverside, CA; three beloved grandchildren; Erica Huron, Ethan Huron and Alexis Huron. Robert is also survived by many nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces who loved their Uncle Bob very much. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated Saturday January 10, 2004 at 9:30 a.m. in St. Monica;s Church, 6131 N. Michigan Rd., Indianapolis, IN., with a reception immediately following the Mass. The visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, December 18, 2003, from 4 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., in Flanner & Buchanan Funeral Center - Broad Ripple. The family would like to especially thank Robert;s caregivers, nurses and doctors at Community Hospital East, Oncology 34 east, for all of their compassion, thoughtfulness and care.
