Susan Jean Hicks, retired social worker, of Lafayette, died January 23, 2022, in Delphi. Born August 26, 1953, in Duluth, Minnesota, she attended Burtsfield Elementary School and West Lafayette Junior and Senior High Schools. She obtained a B.A. from Purdue and a Masters in Social Work from IUPUI.
She is survived by her daughter Arinna of Bloomington, sisters Pamela Hicks of New Jersey and Janet Glossic of West Lafayette, brothers Larry and James (Linda) Hicks of West Lafayette, nephew Dustin (Shraddha) Glossic of Lafayette, and nieces Leslie Glossic of West Lafayette and Alexandra Hicks of Fort Wayne. She was preceded in death by her parents Mason and Jean Phillips Hicks.
Susan had a remarkable sense of humor, was an avid follower of current affairs and local news, and put her talents into baking and scrapbooking. She was a voracious reader, a brilliant Beatlemaniac, and a collector of cookbooks. Above all else she loved being a mother. She will be greatly missed.
Her family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Chinese Children Charities or the Lupus Foundation of America. A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at St. John's Episcopal Church, Lafayette, IN.
