  1. In looking back, I think he was bullied by classmates, which contributed to his suicide. It haunts me to this day.

  2. Rick took his life in the house that my family bought when we moved to West Lafayette. We bought the house above Happy Hollow park in the summer of 1966. (It is no longer there.) I remember that there was a mention of a suicide in the house but it didn't come together until I saw our address in the report above. As I recall, Rick was found in the downstairs bathroom, next to my bedroom and my parents' bedroom. No further mention or discussion of this was made by my family so I thought no more of it until now. I believe I lived in Rick's bedroom. My best friend from our previous suburban Philadelphia neighborhood also committed suicide in 1968. All very sad. -Brian Parker '68

  3. I remember the day when we learned of his death. Indeed, he was bullied and mercilessly ridiculed, especially by the football team. He was just 16! I often wish I had reached out to Ricky, but I was very shy then. Yes, this haunts me as well. Sarah Paulk Lewis
